- Free Range Chicken-
- Free Range Eggs-
Animals that are allowed to free range are healthier and less stressed than those raised on a concrete floor. Chickens raised indoors don't get the fresh green vegetation, insects, and grubs that they naturally deserve. Chickens are not vegetarians! A healthy free range diet along with a high quality grain feed are key to a happy chicken. Also, chickens need their space just like we do. If they are too confined (cooped-up), they get stressed and sick. We are able to free-range our chickens with predators like eagles, hawks, fox, coyote, timberwolf, fisher, and bobcat (Just to name a few). We do this by using mobile free range coops in some cases and protective fence in others. Protecting our animals is very important to us, and we feel this is the best method for the safety of the animals.
We receive our chickens as chicks from The Hoover Hatchery in Iowa, we get the chicks about 2 days old and raise them to maturity. They have a good reputation and have been around for decades. We raise our roaster chickens in small groups and care is given to each individual animal. Our mobile free range coops provide four square feet per chicken, and the coops are moved to a fresh green spot every other day. Our layer hens are also free range.
We sell chicken eggs and meat, processed or live, please call to reserve yours for 2016!
